My teaching style is: Powerful yet encouraging. I work with my students to build a foundation that is a spiritual (vs physical) connection that flows from the heart. A connection that comes from the outside in, allowing what lies beneath to be beautiful and non-judgmental.
My favorite yoga pose is: Camel pose. Heart openers are my favorite as I'm reminded that at times I will feel love and joy, but also pain. These poses allow the walls that have been built up to crumble and my heart to shine.
Yoga has helped me overcome: A feeling of being unbalanced between peace and chaos. Yoga allows me to re-center myself and focus inward allowing me to shine outward. Yoga has helped me overcome the fear of who I was and know that simply being me was more than enough.
My favorite music to practice to is: I love ALL music but I especially love indie music … anything that allows the body to feel the rhythm of yoga.
I love my: Artistic tattoos because they are reflective and meaningful to me.
My favorite deity or goddess is: Ganesha! The Hindu deity in a human form but with the head of an elephant. This represents the power of the supreme being that removes obstacles and ensures success in human endeavors.
You must try this healthy snack: Homemade kale chips!
My favorite sanskrit word is: Ooooooohhhhhmmmmmmm! Essentially, it means we are all a part of this universe, always moving, always changing, always breathing. When you chant Om, you’re tapping into that vibration.
My advice for beginning yogis is: Life is a gift, let it flow. "The study of asana is not about maturing posture. It is about using posture to understand and transform yourself".
I’m most grateful for: Gratitude turns what we have into enough. I am grateful for this moment, for all we have is all we need. All we need is the awareness of how blessed we really are.
The most exotic place that I’ve practiced yoga is: Barbados on a point break where the rocks met the waves.
If I could practice yoga with anyone, it would be: Meghan Currie. Meghan’s focus is to let go as much as possible so that she can be an open channel for creative energy to pass through. That is my hope as well, that I allow every student to be my teacher so I plug my heart into everyone and do my best to translate the teachings.
I hope to take my yoga to the next level by: I am ready to fully commit to my teaching and practice, immersing myself in yoga so that I may have a deeper practice that I may share with the world. I plan to attend more trainings, classes and workshops!
My heros are: My son and husband (Ohana). Family is where life begins and love never ends. Our family is our little world created by Love.
My one wish for the world is: For people to be able to be more conscious of their actions and words, leading to more peace in the outside world. In a difficult moment, sit in stillness and breathe, do not react. See where the moment will take you.
