Tao Porchon-Lynch, E-RYT 500, at 98 years young, is the Guinness World Record holder for being the oldest living (and teaching!) yoga instructor and an award winning world-class dancer. She has trained and certified hundreds of yoga instructors since founding the Westchester Institute of Yoga in 1982. With more than 70 years of yoga practice and 45 years of teaching behind her, Tao has learned how to tap into the incredible power that all individuals possess. She has studied with the masters Indra Devi, B. K. S. Iyengar, and Aurobindo, and recently published her first meditation book, Reflections: The Yogic Journey of Life. Tao has also recently released an autobiography, Dancing Light: The Spiritual Side of Being Through the Eyes of a Modern Yoga Master.
Tao has been featured on the NBC “Today” morning program, ABC News, Dancing with the Stars, the Martha Stewart Show, and took part in a CNN interview with Dr. Sanjay Gupta. Recently, Tao was a workshop presenter with Dr. Terri Kennedy at the Newark Peace Conference and sat on the Panel for Peace with His Holiness the Dalai Lama.
Before teaching yoga, Tao had a long and varied career. Tao was an actress in England, France and the USA (under contract to MGM) in the 1940’s and 50’s, wrote screenplays and made documentaries in the 60’s and 70’s.Her life in India encompasses many historic events.
